But in Middle Ages cats were proclaimed evil and were associated with bad luck, especially black cats. For sailors, on the contrary, cats always symbolized good luck, they were honored and though to be crew members.
Cats were always appreciated as perfect hunters; they freely see in the darkness and helped people to fight rats and mice. But later on, they became family members and the favorite domestic animals.
